Big Bed

I just have to drop a quick note to say that we weren't planning on doing it tonight.. but Andy last minute decided to put Sydney to bed in her big bed we put up yesterday. She has been excited about it ever since we got her Tinkerbell bed set this weekend and likes to climb up there. Anyway... she went right to sleep not a word! When I came home from MOPS I was paranoid that we don't have a bedrail yet so we even went in and 'jimmy-rigged' a "wall" on the one exposed side of the bed with couch cushions and her old crib... she didn't even wake up! HA.... now to see if she stays there all night long and what happens when she wakes up in the morning, so I'm cautiously excited thus far but we'll see....

Language part 2

Sydney loves her puzzles almost as much as talking! Here a sample of what I do all day :)

Before I forget...

For those of you who don't see Sydney very often, she is a chatterbox. She surprised me today particularly with some new feats. I'll explain... about a month ago Andy started teaching her ot say four syllable words instead of just saying like the end of a long word (Example instead of 'roni' to say 'macaroni') In the past two weeks or so she really has that down. Off the top of my head her longest words are 'helicopper,' 'alligator,' and 'macaroni.' She also regularly uses two three and even sometimes four word sentences. When I was at the doctor he asked me for examples of her sentences and at the time I could only remember like two, but now I've time to remember. 'I did it' 'dada work' '(the most common) 'go outside play' 'sydie (what she calls herself) get it' 'mama help please' 'airplane in the sky.' Anyway back to the original reason for my post... I didn't want to forget a few things she did this morning. I was organizing her clothes and switching out summer for fall so she was playing and watching "Ariel's Beginning" I sat down to watch a dancing scene with her and she suddenly sits up, looks at me and says "Shake your booty!" and dances around. HAHA.... I blame Andy and Grandma for this because they are the ones who taught her to dance and say that. However it was really funny to me that she connected the dancing on her show to the phrase. Then when we got ready to go the store I told her to get her shoes on so we could leave and she got all excited ran to the TV and said "Mama, pause it." I didn't know she knew what pause meant. I know I've asked Andy to pause it with her around; I guess she understood. Finally after eating lunch with Andy at work we got in the car and she kept saying a word I couldn't understand then I realized she was saying 'Sydie, mirror,' since she could see herself in the mirror. Another word for my list!

Mama Shinsel

Today was a fun day and as I was winding down after putting Sydney to bed, I just had to post and say how much I love Mama Shinsel. Today she helped me with a last minute dinner, forgetting all manners and etiquette (which makes life SO stress free and I love it), helped me sew a makeshift Minnie Mouse hat for Sydney's Halloween costume, made me laugh at least 10 times, took me to run an errand I forgot last minute, laughed at me (in a good way), played with Sydney, danced with Sydney, watched TV with Sydney and made what otherwise would have been a boring lonely night so much better :). I can't say enough how I couldn't have picked a better mother in law. She is awesomely good at giving advice without being too pushy or nosey. She knows how to give her opinion but support whatever decision you make. She is immensely positive about everything we decide to do and sees the good in every decision. She is one of the best friends I've ever had. The day we move away from La Grande, not having her around to laugh with, randomly do crazy things with, and just relax with will be a really hard thing to do. I adore how much Sydney loves 'Gramma' and wakes up every morning, runs to the door and says "Gramma house".  She knows grandma loves her, wants to play with her, will make time to play with her, and is willing to do silly things that Sydney likes to have fun. So here's to mama shinsel and what an awesome friend and mom she is.
