Keep you Warm
All of the sudden Sydney has decided the purpose of hugs is to keep you warm. Today she saw me hug Andy goodbye and she said "Mama, are you keeping dada warm?" And then throughout the day has said "Mama, keep you warm?" and then proceeds to give me hug and say, "That's better." (Sydney refers to both others and herself as 'you' most of the time). I think its funny that shes decided thats hugs are for warmth purpose and the fact that sometimes its true!
Mom's Visit
Here is a more in depth recap of my mom's visit a few weeks ago....
Since my car had some recalls on it that needed to be fixed, we ended up stayingin Boise for two nights. Sydney's thought the hotel room was Grandma's house and loved climbing up and down the stairs in it. We were able to meet up wiht my friend Becca, her grandma, and boys at Cabela's for a little bit and apparently Sydney was quite the center of attention. It was awesome to have my mom and their help while Andy and I shopped for interview clothes. We were also able to meet Kim and some of her kids at the Boise Children's Museum one morning. There were actually a lot of exhibits for young children like Sydney which was awesome. She had a lot of fun. While in La Grande, went swimming, hung out, went to dinner, had a
birthday party and enjoyed having Grandma Pack around. Thanks for visiting Grandma!

Happy Birthday to Sydney!
About a week ago my mom came in town to visit. We spent a couple of days roaming around Boise and then came to La Grande. I really enjoyed having my mom in La Grande to see where we live, Sydney's house, her toys and all the things that make her happy in life. While my mom was here we got to have an early birthday party for Sydney as well.
Then yesterday, we had another party for Sydney's birthday. Sydney was scared of the fire on her candles at the first party, but I was pleasantly surprised that last night she was willing to try and blow it out! We were lucky to be able to have the party at a time when Andy could Skype in and see the important parts. Sydney really misses her Daddy while he's at school in Alaska and gets excited when she gets to see him on the computer. She has also been talking all day about her Mickey cake and how she got to eat Mickey's ear... haha. She loves her balloon and we've had a really nice day since she's so excited about her new toys that she has been playing all by herself! She surprises me with how grown up she is getting every day:) I'll be posting a ton of pics since Andy wasn't able to see very well and my family wasn't around so enjoy! (As always I haven't gotten the pictures everyone took but I hate to wait to long to post, so I'll put the rest on the family websites eventually) PS... today when I put Sydney down for nap after about 30 minutes I heard "Hi, mama" from behind me. She then said "I put my blankie away." I went in her room to find the light on and her binkie and blankie safely in their drawer." However she still hadn't napped. She wasn't too happy when I put her back in bed and moved her stool so she can't reach the light switch. Good thing she went to sleep now. She's never opened her door before and now the saga begins.... What perfect timing too... NOT

Oh, what to blog about....
It's been almost a month and everything I've wanted to blog about I haven't really been able to get pictures together yet, so here's some things I have been thinking about.
1) - Potty training - after my Huggies Potty Dance Party I started to wonder whether Sydney is ready to start training. She always tells me when she starts to go potty, but never before. Shes gone on her potty seat a few times, but I have to remember to take her. I'm worried that if I just ignore her telling me shes going then she'll go back to not noticing, however she's not quite ready to hold it and go on the potty all time. Any thoughts?
2) - Two - Sydney will be two in about five days. It seems like its been a long time since she was a baby, but not very long since she was turning one. The last year has flown by. I'm still undecided about what we should do on her actual birthday and struggling with the idea of having to more real parenting rather than just caretaking. One thing I know is we're gonna learn a lot in the next few years and try to be humble enough to recognize direction when its given.
3) - La Grande - As things in our life are changing, I've been reflecting on La Grande. We really have settled in to a nice little routine and life here. I know I said it when I left Hawaii, but I think it would be hard to find an awesome group of friends another place. I still stand by Hawaii being the best place to ever live and the best decision we've made up to that point in our marriage, but it was a different stage of life as well. For young motherhood and the end of school, La Grande has been picture perfect. I am so grateful for all our friends and sad that just as we keep making more things are starting to change. I'm torn between my itching feet to move on with life and the idea that we've gotten so comfortable here. I feel like on any given day I have a list of people I'd love to talk to, hang out with, or who could help me with anything I needed. I love that security.
4) - Baby - Ever since my miscarriage in October, I've been back and forth. Over and over again, we've felt like yes this is the right time, but still it hasn't happened yet. How do you tell the difference between your own worries and a geniune maybe its better to wait right now? (FYI: this particular questions is a hypothetical question... I like my blog to be a family journal with real events/tests in our lives but I'm not asking for an answer) Sydney is getting older, but my health hasnt been all that great and Andy might not be around a lot in the near future. So I'm stuck wondering what the future holds and trying to hear what we are really supposed to do.
