Grandma and Papa Shinsel Part 2

Some of our tourist outings included a trip up the tram where we did a little hike, picked all sorts of berries and had lunch. One afternoon Papa and Grandma got to ride their first seaplane over to Angoon and back. They even got to see the orcas on their flight, so I was jealous! Lastly, we spent one morning at one of my favorite secluded coves here in Juneau. Its only about a 1/3 mile walk on a gravel path wide enough for a stroller, but its one of Juneau's best kept secrets. Wynn was thrilled to pull Papa up and down from the water to fill up his watering can and then pour it in the buckets. He also showed off his rock throwing skills while Sydney made birthday cakes out of sand. Fun times! :)

Aren't they cute?

Grandma and Papa Shinsel Part 1

For years now, Grandma Shinsel has always told asked Sydney, "Why do you stick your pinky out when you're having a tea party?" and then the answer, "So someone can come by and put a doughnut on it. Well, Sydney was thrilled when Grandma and Papa came to visit a few weeks ago and that is one of the first things we did.
We also spend time playing at home and Sydney and Wynn were thrilled to have constant playmates. Wynn decided Papa was his best bud and would ask "where's papa?" anytime he woke up and go running to find him.
One afternoon we made a mad dash berry picking trip before dinner and picked about 12 cups of red huckleberries in under an hour! Thanks to all the sunshine this year the bushes were loaded. We wouldn't have picked so many if it weren't for Andy, the berry rake ninja, who somehow filled his berry rake twice as fast as the rest of us and then proceeded to fill ours too while we picked by hand. Now we have Wynn, the berry radar, and Andy, the berry ninja, as we keep finding our best secret patches hopefully we'll be set for years to come!
