While we were visiting Texas for Christmas, my sister Emily organized a chance for us to all go deliver paper flowers and sing songs to the elderly. this happens to be the exact home for the elderly where I trained to be a CNA in high school, so it brought back a lot of memories. Sydney surprised Andy and I by being the ham of the evening and wanting to sing solo songs to each of the people in the room. She liked to sing by herself better than with everyone else and was so excited. She said, "It made me so happy that they liked when I would sing and dance for them." She was really cute dressed up in her gingerbread girl dress!
We had so much fun doing lots of things in Texas. We visited a pizza buffet/arcade where Wynn tried to play all the big kids games, made cookies, played at Grandma's house, visited the aquarium, saw a movie, and the kids got to experience their first rides at Six Flags.
I have a special attachment to Six Flags since I've always loved roller coasters and as a teenager would make a point to buy a season pass and spend those hot summer days there. A few months before Christmas, Sydney was talking to someone and I realized she didn't know what a roller coaster was. I had to show her since its something I've always loved! I told Andy that was the one outing I wanted to make sure our family did when we were in Texas, even though I couldn't really do anything at the park myself. It turns out the kids may have inherited my thrill seeking genes instead of Andy's - he's more timid around rides. Both kids loved the rides and Wynn was ecstatic about the miniature "death drop" ride that looked like the Eiffel Tower. He would laugh and laugh and laugh every time the ride dropped down. I'm excited that we may have years of amusement parks and roller coasters ahead for the kids to enjoy with me!
