Happy Birthday to Us

We had a fun birthday week last week and did lots of fun things but I wanted most to write about how awesome Andy is and how much we love him! I love surprises, and when we were first married I wanted Andy to be able to read my mind and know me so well that he could plan these perfect celebration days without me telling him anything. I thought that would mean we were really close. Well.... after I got over my unrealistic expectations over the years, I've learned something new. It brings me happiness now to realize the security and comfort I find in Andy and knowing that he wants me to be happy. I just have to learn how to tell him exactly what I need in detail :) and he does his best to make it happen. So this year my birthday was perfect. I told him a few days before exactly the things that were important to me, what I wanted to do, who I wanted there, and the things I didn't want to do. He even took notes and followed through without a hitch. My surprise breakfast was yummy, cake with the kids at ten AM exciting, our triple dinner/games date a ton of fun, and a night alone while the kids stayed at Grandmas and we soaked in the tub the perfect end to the day, but my favorite gift was knowing that he loved me and my realization that now we are close. Not because he can read my mind or knows me perfectly but because if I just communicate well and we listen to each other, we can always meet each other's needs and be happy. It's a safe, happy place to be. Happy birthday Andy!
