Early Birthday Party

So I guess we like to do a lot of things early... but we had Sydney's party last night. (Its really because Maxine is leaving town tonight at midnight and would miss it) It was so much fun! Sydney tried to grab the flame on her candle and then I accidentally blew it out trying to show her how.... but she loved everything about it. It was the first time we've let her really have a whole dessert and she devoured her cupcake in no time. Andy and I enjoyed watching her be extremely hyper after we got home later that night. She went to bed late and chased Nemesis around and around the house shaking her arms. For those of you who don't know she is walking like 90% of the time now and very fluent. I know all moms say this, but I am amazed at how much she can say. Really she learns new words every day and tries to repeat everything I say. I think she's gonna love to talk... kinda like me. Anyway pics and videos to follow. Thanks to all for their early birthday wishes :)!

Okay so as you'll see in the video... we forgot to take a pic until sydney has pulled all the decor off and ate her cupcake... so it was reassembled. Ha! And if you can't tell its supposed to be a beehive.

Hmm.... I realize the video seems kinda jumpy. Hopefully thats because I'm uploading as I do this... but I guess I took more video than pic. Luckily, I wasn't the only one with a camera. So I'll try to get a shot of Sydney's face since it appears I neglected that small details, oops.

Chatterbox

Sydney is a big talker. Even though she's not quite one, she has a pretty large repertoire of words under her belt. Among the ones she can say well are hi, buh-bye, ball, mama, dada, papa, tick tick, and uh-oh. She also can say her version of kitty, night night, more, grandma, light, kick, ear, fish, "oh, wow", cat, dog, woof, door, syd (For herself), book and boo (they sound the same).... which in most cases means she misses some of the consonants but you can definetely tell what she is saying. She surprises me every day with how much more she can understand and even do by herself. One of the most recent surprises was when I found her holding a doll and making it do pat-a-cake with its hands. I'm gonna try and get it on video so I have proof!

Early birthday present

For my birthday my mom got me a new bike! So last Saturday Andy and I spent most of the day hooking up the bike trailer we got for Sydney, buying/fitting helmets for Sydney and I (more on that later), fixing up an old bike for him to ride... all so we could go on a bike ride all together later that day. I'll spare you the details of the run around but needless to say it took allllll day.

Anyway here are some pics of the bike, trailer and Sydney in her snazzy new helmet... which she doesn't hate surprisingly!

Okay... so i'm really excited about my new bike and how I'm really getting to train for the triathalon now... so on Tuesday I hooked it all up, bundled up Sydney and went for our first training ride... this was the result

A little ways into my ride, I was thinking "Man, my back really hurts. I need to lift this seat up." So I got off and proceeded to lift the seat up. Turns out there is this really tight latch I had to push back down to lock the seat in place... see below... and I was pushing really hard with my thumb when all of the sudden it popped completely out of joint and almost down to my wrist. IT WAS DISGUSTING AND EXTREMLY PAINFUL. Luckily it popped right back in.

However, it still hurt really bad and I thought well I don't  what i'm gonna do with the bike if I call someone so I tried to get back on and ride... but it hurt so I stopped to look for my phone. However, Sydney had gotten a hold of the water bottle in the trailer and spilled it all over the bottom where my phone was... no phone. (I've ordered a new one and its currently charging so i'll be able to be reached soon) So I had to ride home anyway one handed which wasn't that bad actually. Now i'll sum up the rest... Maxine helped a lot thank you thank you thank you, ER, splint, and retell this story over and over again with no one being able to imagine how I did such a thing... I don't know either. Andy questions why it didn't hurt before it popped out... I don't know. Haha... I'm still excited about the bike. I can't ride til my hand is better and I can take the splint off (abt 2 weeks) but it still is really fun. Sydney likes it too. So thats my story hopefully I wont have to explain it as much now :) and I'll be back out running, swimming, and biking again soon.
