Over Memorial Day weekend we went on a hike... we checked the weather, but were surprised to find tons of snow when we got the trail head. We decided the snow would probably be spotty so we'd go ahead anyway... It wasn't lol. The kids and us we re sliding everywhere and a 1.5 miles hike to Van Patten Lake took us two hours but we made it soaking wet! Even the lake was still mostly frozen over. I had to admit I didn't trust Andy's instinct and thought we were lost... there was so much snow you couldn't see any sort of ground to follow a trail... but he got us there and it was worth it. The next Monday we went out camping for family home evening. Andy found a nice little pond on Mount Emily for us to camp by and since we were much lower elevation... no SNOW! The kids even swam in the pond. It was a super last minute thing that Andy put together on his own and even packed everything for me since I had a busy day. He surprised the kids when we got up there with a new kids bow and Wynn was in heaven shooting targets with the new arrows. It was a great camping spot and had lots of room to bike, fish, and play. We love Andy and are grateful he found this little spot for us to enjoy and planned it all for us. We'll definitely go back again even despite its one downfall. There were two very very friendly deer that seemed to be begging for food once the evening came. They made both of us nervous and kept coming closer and closer to our fire. They ignored all our attempts to scare them away and were still around in the morning. We're looking forward to more outdoor adventures this summer!
