Family trip - Central Montana

We went camping for a few nights in central Montana to check out the area.
The Lewis and Clark Caverns were actually underwhelming compared to the caves we have visited in the past.
The Grotto and Palisade Falls were freezing but that didn't stop the kids from getting wet. Sydney even swam across the freezing pool at the base.
In Philipsburg, we planned for sapphires since there is a mine nearby. This was the kids favorite. Their bags of dirt had other things to find like gems and fossils.
We visited the ringing rocks. If you hit them with hammers, they make a metallic sound. It's one of the only places in the world to see this phenomenon.
The climb up Mt Helena was grueling but offered a rewarding view at the top.
At the Montana WILD center, the kids learned about Montana wildlife and got to dissect an owl pellet. Abby's was a small bird and Sydneys a mouse.
We took a scavenger hunt tour of the Capitol.

The stained glass windows at this cathedral are the only remaining complete set in the world since the others were destroyed in WWII.
