This past weekend I completed my second tri. The bike was harder than the last one, but I still had fun. When the run came along I was just exhausted but still managed the run the whole time! I finished in 1 hr 34 min... faster than my last one even... althougth the swim was 200 yds shorter so maybe not. This time Andy happened to take a few pics of the bike and run (Sydney was still asleep during the swim and bike transition.) So I feel good... I'm still trying to decide what to do now. I don't feel justified having people watch Sydney all the time so I can work out when I'm just working out without something to train for, so I may just jog and use my elliptical again. I'd really like to weight train to build some lean muscle for next season and be that much more efficient... any one know of any home weight training workouts?? (Lethe... I'm thinkin about gettin the one you do)

Jet Skiing
This past saturday we took Sydney up to Wolf Creek Reservoir to go jet skiing. Our friends Lindsey, Tyler and Beckham came along too. At first Sydney was really exctied to ride on a boat... but as soon as the engine started she wasn't so sure. We took her out at a slow troll but she kept saying all done so we went back to the dock. While we took turns going out as adults, the kids played on the beach in the mud and throwing rocks. Sydney was having so much fun laying in the mud and squishing it around her fingers. She wanted to runn all the way into the lake and her feet kept sinking and she'd say "stuck!" Anyway eventually we convinced her ot ride with mom in teh tube behidn the boat. And even though she still looked warily at the jet ski the whole time she thought it was fun to ride around in the tube. The next day we were all sooo sore from holding on the tube but we had tons of fun! The only down side was that somewhere in that day and a half I lost my car keys and have been running around trying to find them and have copies made of the extras this whole week. It has been such a pain... but finally its over so we're back to normal and looking forward to the coming weekend :)

Luna Triathlon
I was hoping to collect other people's pics of me before I did this post... but I guess what I have will just have to do :). On July 31st, I completed my first triathlon! YES! It was way way more fun than I thought it would be. It was the sprint distance all women's Luna triathlon in Troutdale, Oregon. We had about 16 women there from my local tri team... all wearing our matching uniforms. I have to say the swim felt kind of hard. After my swim in the Solstice earlier this year... I thought this is gonna be a breeze since the water was warm and the swim shorter... however still difficult. I need need need to work on my sighting because I flailed every time I had to look up to see where I was going... I just can't figure it out. However I only swam about a minute slower than I had been in the pool so I wasn't that bad I guess! The bike was amazingly fun. I really really loved it. I rented a road bike from Mountain Works here in La Grande and that was like a miracle compared to what I've been training on. I did have one mishap not even a mile in. My shoelace got caught around the pedal and when I stopped to fix it I fell over. HAHA... the bike was a little tall for me so I have to jump off kind of. Anyway it didn't hurt that bad and I got right up (the seat did get a tear... which I had to pay for :/), but I later got an amazingly battle bruise for my efforts. Anyway I loved the feeling of passing so many people on the bike... I guess I'll hand that to pulling Sydney all the time in a trailer. Finally the run was better than I thought. I didn't have to walk at all which I was entirely planning on. When I started I was thinking I would have to, but once the shot blocks kicked in I was homefree! I haven't ran that fast since high school. I finished 212 out of 400 in 1 hr 46 min. Way faster than I thought I would, so I was pleased. All in all, I really enjoyed it. I'm gearing up for another on the 21st here in La Grande... shorter swim and a harder bike so we'll see how that goes.
Even finishing this post I'm really bummed that I don't have any pics of me mid-swim, run or bike and I know several people on the team who have pics of that as well as professional photographers at the race that I can buy them from... so perhaps after the La Grande Tri I'll sneek them in ;-).
On another note, Sydney is just growing by leaps and bounds lately. She does something really funny, cute, smart, awesome every day. But today she did something that I just had to brag about because it was so cute/funny. I went garage saling last weekend and found a bunch of awesome stuff. One of which is a Little Tikes doll, bassinet/high chair/swing combo. Sydney loved it as soon as she saw it. So today I was in the kitchen and she was playing in her room and I hear "uh oh"... so I go in there and find this (see picture) She looks up at me, puts the blanket on her head and says "night night". If you can't tell she tried to climb in the doll bassinet and ended up in the shelf beneath it. Maybe I'm crazy but I couldn't help but melt.
