Island City Home

We are all moved in to our new house and have already started tearing it up. The kids are having a blast and We really liking the neighborhood and space. Here are few pics of it. The rest of the kids room is surprise for when we get our big bed project finished. Also, we are remodeling the second bathroom and kitchen, so I'll blog about those rooms with pics later!

Weeks of firsts

Sydney started Kindergarten. She is in Ms. Huntington's afternoon class. On the first day, Ms. Huntington had a surprise waiting for her.... It was a picture of her third grade class in 1993, with Andy in it! She taught Andy her second year as a teacher. Sydney thought that was pretty funy. Sydney loves school and has made a couple of friends already. She still misses her Alaska friends though and makes cards for them everyday. Starting at the second week of school, she got to start riding the Kindergarten bus too. Wynn was distraught that he didn't get to ride the "big yellow bus," but he likes to walk Sydney down to the corner every morning and wait for it to come. Lastly, Sydney started her first dance class. Its preballet and she is enjoying it. Her two cousins Kaylee and Emilee are in the same class too. The teacher asked me twice if I was sure she hadn't taken dance before because she did so well. I guess all that dancing to princess music in her room paid off!

Dog Days of Summer

This summer we got to do a lot of fun things while waiting to move into your new house! We visited cousins, played outside a ton, hang out at Grandmas, and visited new places around here. Sydney and Wynn have become the best of friends even more since they are sharing a room, but they seem to get on each other's nerves a bit more too.

The lake pictured below is called Jubilee Lake. Lindsey and I ventured up there one afternoon even though the forecast was for rain. It started thundering and sprinkling soon after we got there so we took shelter under some trees. Unfortunately, there was also a bee nest hole under that tree and they didn't take very kindly to the kids stomping around. All the sudden there were dozens of bees zooming out of the hole and we high tailed in to another grove of trees! Luckily the storm only lasted another 10 minutes or so and it cleared up enough for the kids to play in the water.

And in case any of you were wondering, Nemesis is doing great! She learned how to walk on her harness so she could burn some energy and be with the family during her 5 week hiatus in the Shinsel's garage. She is really happy to be in the house with us again now though.

Camping

We took the kids for a last minute overnighter at Hilgard one weekend. They have been asking to go camping for a long time but I was too chicken with a newborn! We got out there just in time to set up camp and go to bed. All 3 kids were asleep in the tent by 9 and Andy and I got to sit out by the fire for a couple of hours on our own! We had a pretty good night and the kids were up at the crack of dawn. We spend the morning eating smores for breakfast and hen Andy took the kids and I to a swimming hole along the river where he used to go as a kid. they had lots of fun! I think I'd dare do more camping trips now that it went so well :) I know the first pics blurry but you get the idea!

I'm obviously not a morning person....
